The forgotten realms is a fictional alternate world that has been published as a campaign setting for dungeons & dragons (d&d), advanced dungeon & dragons (ad&d), advanced dungeons & dragons 2nd edition(2e), 3rd edition dungeons & dragons (3e), and 4th edition dungeons and dragons (4e), by tsr, inc. And it's interesting to see how often the geography matches the real world themes being cribbed. Sword coast gazetteer the city of baldur’s gate has been plunged into.

This is a list of fictional cities, towns, and villages from the forgotten realms setting. Someone should have dared, long ago, and done so as often as it took to break you of this serenely wrong view of the ways of the world. I hope people enjoy this but fair warning before clicking this link.

Several years later, greenwood brought the setting to publication for the d&d game as a series of magazine. There's a map online of the northwest corner of faerun, but i don't believe there's an official map of all of the forgotten realms yet. I am very excited to publish my world map of toril from forgotten realms. A lot has happened to the world of faerun.
